St. Denis Parish History

Our Beginning.

St. Denis Catholic Church began with six families in 1958. The idea came into being when Chief S.O. Adenuga met Rev. Fr. D. J. Slattery at St. Paul’s Catholic School Ebute-Metta, Lagos; where he was a junior Principal of the school. The school had twenty classrooms of which Rev. Fr. D. J. Slattery used four classrooms to start St. Finbarr’s College.

60th Anniversary Celebration.

Happy Anniversary

The Grand Finale of the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Parish took place on Pentecost Sunday, 20th May, 2018 with Holy Mass, Thanksgiving and Celebration of families.

Parts of the programme highlights prior to the Grand Finale included a happy and active road show around the Bariga Community, Talk and Discussion on Genotype, Interractive Session (Gains and Pains of Mixed Marriage), Who is to choose a spouse, Parents or Young People?, Family Annointing and Blessings, Fun Fair - Sack Race, Athletics, Tug of War, Table Tenis, Ludo (Board game), Chess, etc, Renewal of Marital Vows, Thanksgiving and Awards.

At the end of the celebration, the overall winner (Champion) in the Parish games was Fr. Slattery House with an impressive performance in most competitions. Congratulations to the Team. Read More

100 Years of Fatima Celebration.

our Lady of Fatima

In the years 1916 and 1917, through the tutelage of an angel and the Blessed Mother, two young children were led to holiness in just a few short years. That tutoring began in the spring of 1916 with three visitations of the Guardian Angel of Portugal, apparitions which served as preparation for the visits the following year of the Mother of God.
